Artists, Activists & Collaborators
RuckusRoots believes in the power of the creative process to affect positive change in the world. We're working with groundbreaking artists to give young people across the country a chance to express themselves creatively, sustainably and consciously. We are proud to be working with the following artists and organizations:
The Ant Farm/ Art Customs
This LA-based collective of artists and creative thinkers turns large-scale artistic dreams into reality. They are builders and painters, designers and engineers, working with materials ranging from water and wood to metal and found objects. Founded by Robin Guttman in 2005, the Ant Farm is now collaborating with RuckusRoots on future projects, including our Earth Week 2010 trash sculpture at the University of Wisconsin, and upcoming fundraising events.
The Rainforest Action Network
Rainforest Action Network campaigns for the forests, their inhabitants and the natural systems that sustain life by transforming the global marketplace through education, grassroots organizing, and non-violent direct action. In 2009 and 2019, RuckusRoots will promote RAN's agribusiness campaign through petition that call for large corporations to stop using unsustainably harvested palm oil in their products. The Octamasher is an interactive music installation that connects eight unique instruments to one computer brain and allows virtually anyone to jump right in, play samples, tweak loops, interact with other people, and have fun!
The Energy Action Coalition
The Energy Action Coalition united a diversity of organizations in an alliance that supports and strengthens the youth climate and energy movement. RuckusRoots signed up hundrends on the EAC's Power Vote Pledge prior to the 2008 elections, through which participants pledged to vote for pro-clean-energy leaders.
